Nearly 2800 Special Olympics athletes will compete over three days at the 2014 Summer Games at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, May 30-June 1. Volunteers are needed to help with the Special Olympics cycling event. People are needed to assist at start/finish lines and along the course. Special Olympics Washington provides year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in the sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes and the community.
