- Washington Bikes has endorsed a slate of bike champions for the Aug. 5 Primary and Special Election so voters can cast bike-friendly ballots.
- We urge King County residents to vote YES for the King County Parks Levy to fund trails.
Ballots for the Aug. 5 Primary and Special Election will start hitting mailboxes July 20, kicking off a two-week mail-in voting period. We encourage all Washington state voters to review Washington Bikes’ endorsements before casting ballots.
This year’s election is pivotal for the future of bicycling in communities across the state with about half of city and county officials on the ballot, as well as a handful of positions in the state Legislature.
Washington Bikes has vetted the candidates and endorsed the individuals who support our vision of a Washington state where all communities are connected by bike.
See our table of Candidate Endorsements below for Bellevue, Bremerton, Redmond, Renton, Seattle, and Spokane, plus our picks for Legislative District 41 and 48.
This is an especially important election for King County voters who support trails. We urge King County voters to vote YES for the King County Parks Levy (Proposition 1) that will provide $182 million for regional trails.
The Parks Levy includes $55 million to complete the Lake to Sound Trail, $65 million for Eastrail, and includes funding for the Green River, Interurban, and Soos Creek trails, as well as money for maintenance and upkeep of regional trails. Alongside trails investments, the Levy funds parks and open spaces throughout King County.
The Parks Levy needs more than 50% of votes to ensure its passage. Vote YES if you live in King County. Read the Cascade Bicycle Club blog post about the crucial importance of the Parks Levy in light of federal funding cuts to bike infrastructure by the Trump administration.
Washington state residents can register to vote or update their voter registration address online until July 28, and in person at your local election office through Tuesday, Aug. 5, Primary Election Day.
