About the Challenge
May is Bike Everywhere Month, and Washington Bikes is sweetening the joy of bicycling with a friendly competition.
Throughout the month of May, compete in the Bike Everywhere Challenge. Create a team, log your miles, and compete for the top spot! Also keep an eye out for special side quests to earn prizes.
This challenge is open to anyone in Washington. Whether you are a seasoned bike commuter or new to getting around by bike, this is the perfect chance to inspire yourself and others to reduce your carbon footprint and appreciate the benefits of bike travel.
Invite your friends, plan rides, and rack up miles. You can even sync your Strava account to automatically log trips. As you log more miles, you’ll see the money you save on gas, the carbon emissions you avoid, and the calories you burn. The more you bike, the more you win!
Why participate in the Challenge?
If biking is new to you, there’s never been a better time to get started. The workplace and community-based teams of up to ten people are a great way to spur some friendly competition and motivate you to keep you riding throughout the month of May.
For seasoned riders, it’s all about the challenge and camaraderie with fellow riders. Challenge yourself to recruit teammates, challenge your workmates and friends to ride more, and challenge peer organizations to out-ride you this spring.
The Bike Everywhere Challenge offers some great features:
- Simple registration process.
- Quick and easy trip logging, whether manually or by syncing your Strava account.
- Competition across multiple leaderboards.
- Prizes for the top point-earning team and random drawings for reaching milestones.
You can create an account at any time for free.

FAQs
What is the difference between the desktop and app version of the Challenge?
Both versions are free and allow you to compete in the Bike Everywhere Challenge. The app includes real-time GPS tracking, allowing you to start and stop a trip right from the app (similar to logging an activity on Strava). If you don’t have the app, you will have to manually enter your trips, inputting start and stop addresses, in order for them to count toward the Challenge.
Why do you need my work and home address when I sign up?
These addresses are used to make it easier to log your work commute. You do not have to use the exact addresses (zip code is fine, or cross streets). We do not use or distribute this information.
How do I sync my Strava account?
- Click “Account” on the left sidebar
- Under Settings, click “Connected Apps”
- Click Strava to link to your Strava account*
Once your Strava account is connected, your commute trips will automatically be logged and counted toward the Bike Everywhere Challenge.
*By default, only commute trips will be logged when you sync Strava. If you want all of your bike trips from Strava to be logged, click “Allow these types of trips” and select “All Trips.”
