Washington Bikes has endorsed 33 candidates in local, state and federal races, and we are urging yes votes on important ballot initiatives in Tacoma and Spokane. We encourage you to vote for the candidates below.
Rebecca Saldaña for King County Council District 2
We endorse state Sen. Rebecca Saldaña for King County Council District Two. Saldaña spent the past decade in the Senate advocating for funding and policies that advance bicycling. We are excited to work with Saldaña to close trail gaps, expand trail access, build more bike infrastructure, and make King County roads safer for people to bike.
Nilu Jenks for Seattle City Council District 5
WA Bikes supports Nilu Jenks for the special one-year election for Seattle District 5 (North Seattle). Jenks articulates a vision for Seattle that integrates biking into daily life. She understands that bicycling is climate action, and she has pledged to push for safer biking on notoriously dangerous Aurora Avenue. Jenks also promises to push for speedy completion of bike projects in the voter-approved Seattle Transportation Levy.
State Legislature
Legislative partners and champions on the ballot this year include the architects of the 2022 Move Ahead Washington legislation that committed a record $1.3 billion for bike, walk, and roll initiatives: Senate Transportation Chair Marko Liias (D-21) and House Transportation Chair Jake Fey (D-27). Vote for Liias and Fey.
We also endorse Julia Reed (D-36), lead sponsor of WA Bikes’ top legislative priority in 2026: strengthening the Vulnerable Road User Law and increasing accountability for drivers who hit people walking and biking.

Ballot Initiatives for Better Biking
Spokane and Tacoma voters have important ballot measures that can improve cycling in their cities. We urge yes votes on both.
Tacoma Proposition 1: Safe Streets & Sidewalks Levy
This measure would renew the expired Streets Initiative levy to provide necessary funding for streets projects throughout Tacoma. It is a no-cost-increase renewal of a property tax levy.
If passed, the levy will use Vision Zero data to prioritize fixes on the most dangerous arterials and locations where we know people are getting hurt. This package represents a transformative change in how the city thinks about safety and mobility. Learn more from Tacoma on the Go.
Spokane Prop 1: Yes for Buses
Spokane Proposition 1 seeks to renew a sales tax that funds the city Transit Authority. Most of that funding would maintain service levels and enhance service over 10 years. Projects funded include the Division Street Bus Rapid Transit initiative that will build a protected bike lane on the busiest street in Spokane. Learn more at yesforbuses.org
