The experienced race organizers at Round and Round Productions say, &#8220;Anyone who can ride a bike can do this\u2026.your team decides how many laps each person does\u2026one or a whole bunch. So bring your camping gear, bike gear and whatever else will keep you going for 24 hours&#8230; then come on out and get dirty with us!&#8221;<\/p>\n<h2>3) More Mountain Biking:\u00a0Beacon Hill &amp; Camp Sekani, Mt. Spokane &amp; Riverside State Park<\/h2>\n<p>Did we mention Spokane makes an awesome base camp? There are abundant reasons that\u00a0<a title=\"Spokane ranks among top outdoors towns in magazine's list (Spokesman-Review, Aug. 13, 2013)\" href=\"http:\/\/www.spokesman.com\/blogs\/outdoors\/2013\/aug\/13\/spokane-ranks-top-outdoors-town-magazines-list\/\" target=\"_blank\"><em>Outside<\/em>\u00a0magazine ranked Spokane one of the top 18 towns for outdoors enthusiasts.<\/a>\u00a0(Note: You&#8217;ll need a\u00a0<a title=\"Washington State Discover Pass\" href=\"http:\/\/www.discoverpass.wa.gov\/\" target=\"_blank\">state Discover Pass<\/a>\u00a0to park a car at trailheads in Washington State Parks. It&#8217;s free.)<\/p>\n<p>Imagine hopping onto single-track just a few miles from the heart of downtown Spokane &#8212; or a few\u00a0<strong>minutes<\/strong>\u00a0from the heart of downtown if you head downstream to Riverside State Park. Climb hills or mountains and enjoy the pine scent.<\/p>\n<p>The <a title=\"Evergreen East: Evergreen Mountain Bike Alliance, Eastern Washington chapter\" href=\"http:\/\/www.evergreeneast.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">Eastern Washington chapter of the Evergreen Mountain Bike Association<\/a> (formerly the Fat Tire Trail Riders Club) has worked on <a title=\"Camp Sekani &amp; Beacon Hill: Great mountain bike trails in Spokane, WA\" href=\"http:\/\/www.evergreeneast.org\/trails\/campsekanibeaconhill\/\" target=\"_blank\">the Beacon Hill trails <\/a>&#8212; 30 miles of trails through 1,000 acres of public and private property &#8212; for years. Get out and enjoy the fruits of their labors, and consider throwing in some volunteer time to help make the trails even better. You&#8217;ll rack up art points big time if you stop in at the <a title=\"Jundt Art Museum, Gonzaga University, Spokane\" href=\"http:\/\/www.gonzaga.edu\/Campus-Resources\/Museums-and-Libraries\/Jundt-Art-Museum\/\" target=\"_blank\">Jundt Art Museum<\/a> on the campus of Gonzaga University (look for its copper spire on the north bank), and check out the <a title=\"Riverpoint Campus public art, Spokane, WA\" href=\"http:\/\/spokane.wsu.edu\/services2\/facility-services\/buildings-art\/\" target=\"_blank\">sculptures on the Riverpoint campus operated by WSU Spokane<\/a>\u00a0right across the river (south bank), both on the east end of downtown.<\/p>\n<p>From Spokane Valley: Rally your friends at Mirabeau Park and go from there (maybe check out <a title=\"Discovery Playground at Mirabeau Point Park\" href=\"http:\/\/www.spokanevalley.org\/DiscoveryPlayground\" target=\"_blank\">Discovery Playground<\/a>, the multi-sensory accessible play place for people of all ages and abilities). This year it takes place Sept. 7, 2014.<\/p>\n<p>The stunning Spokane Falls loop takes you along the route for Bloomsday, Spokane&#8217;s iconic road race, where you&#8217;ll see gorgeous fall colors (and ride up &#8220;Doomsday Hill&#8221;&#8211;but hey, those runners do it and they don&#8217;t have a granny gear). The ride ends at Riverfront Park, where volunteers watch your precious while you cruise through SpokeFair (say hi to the WA Bikes booth!).<\/p>\n<p>The Spokefest Association uses proceeds from the ride to make grants to nonprofit organizations helping improve bike safety in the Spokane area.
