Let us know about a challenge we&#8217;re missing and we&#8217;ll get it on the list.<\/p>\n<p>During Bike to Work Week I participated in events on opposite sides of the state. Andy Billig, Barb Chamberlain of WA Bikes<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Monday morning I joined the <a title=\"Spokane Bikes (Bike to Work Spokane organizers)\" href=\"http:\/\/www.spokanebikes.net\" target=\"_blank\">Spokane Bike to Work<\/a> Kickoff Breakfast: Pancakes by <a title=\"Mountain Gear, a Bicycle-Friendly Business\" href=\"http:\/\/www.mountaingear.com\" target=\"_blank\">Mountain Gear<\/a>\u00a0(a <a title=\"Bike-Friendly Washington\" href=\"http:\/\/wabikes.org\/growing-bicycling\/resources\/bike-friendly-washington\/\" target=\"_blank\">Silver level Bicycle-Friendly Business)<\/a>, organic direct-trade coffee by <a title=\"Gear Grinder Blend: Delicious Support for the Bicycle Alliance\" href=\"http:\/\/wabikes.org\/2013\/03\/12\/gear-grinder-blend-delicious-support-for-the-bicycle-alliance\/\" target=\"_blank\">Roast House<\/a>, and for a change, sunshine!<\/p>\n<p>Spokanites know we\u2019d had a 6-year streak of rain on kickoff day\u2014snapped the streak at last in year 7. Spokane River Centennial Trail<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Sen. Andy Billig and Spokane City Councilman Jon Snyder, both great champions who \u201cbike the talk,\u201d rode to the event to celebrate the growth in Spokane bicycling. As always, for those who may have a solitary route to work this event provides the chance to hang out with others who bike. They compare gear, routes, and funny stories and build the bicycling community.\u00a0As the founding chair I felt as if I were attending a hometown reunion with so many familiar faces.<\/p>\n<p>Monday night I rode from downtown along the Spokane River Centennial Trail to meet with members of the <a title=\"Spokane Bicycle Club\" href=\"http:\/\/www.spokanebicycleclub.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">Spokane Bicycle Club<\/a>. They\u2019re working hard to grow membership and to bring in all kinds of riders and it was great to hear their energy and enthusiasm. (Photo by Hank Greer)<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Tuesday I rode with over 2 dozen people in the short loop that took us up the South Hill on Adams and around bike lanes and quiet neighborhood streets to end at Hart Field for fruit and cookies. (Thanks for the treats, Brandon and Sara Blankenagel and SBC members!)<\/p>\n<p>I had to leave Tuesday night so I missed Wednesday morning\u2019s Energizer Stations.
