Today gifted me with one of those days that makes you wonder why anyone would ever submit to being shut inside a car.<\/p>\n<p>I remember reading a piece a while back that suggested that when a driver gets angry at people on bikes it&#8217;s because he\/she envies us. We look so happy, after all. On a day like today that hypothesis makes total sense.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"30 Days of Biking, Day 28: Morning\" href=\"http:\/\/wabikes.org\/2014\/04\/28\/30-days-biking-day-28-morning\/\" target=\"_blank\">As with yesterday<\/a>, I started off under slightly overcast skies and reached blue skies about the time I got my view of the Space Needle from the Melrose Trail. It just kept getting better all day.<\/p>\n<p>A little before noon I rode to a lunch meeting in SoDo, rolling along in busy traffic that didn&#8217;t matter because I was outdoors enjoying it and they were stuck inside those big metal boxes. I know who was happier waiting at the stoplights.<\/p>\n<p>Lunch at <a title=\"Zinnia Bistro\" href=\"http:\/\/zinniabistro.wordpress.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Zinnia Bistro<\/a> was fantastic, by the way &#8212; go there for fresh and local! I&#8217;ll forgive them their lack of a bike rack since they had a sign against the building I could lock to and for the sake of the quinoa salad with asparague, blueberries, pistachios, and feta in a light vinaigrette.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/wabikes.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/Seattle-forecast-4-29-5-1-14.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-7495 alignright\" alt=\"Screen shot from weather.com of Seattle forecast April 29-May 1, 2014\" src=\"http:\/\/wabikes.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/Seattle-forecast-4-29-5-1-14-300x225.gif\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><\/a>Riding back to the office after an invigorating discussion about <a title=\"Washington\u2019s Great Outdoors: Your Chance to Shape the Future\" href=\"http:\/\/wabikes.org\/2014\/04\/29\/washingtons-great-outdoors-chance-shape-future\/\">the future of outdoor recreation<\/a> was even prettier.\u00a0By mid-afternoon the temperature reached 76 degrees and the forecast for the next couple of days is more of the same.<\/p>\n<p>This bodes well for tomorrow &#8212; my successful finish to <a title=\"30 Days of Biking: Join a community of joyful bicyclists\" href=\"http:\/\/www.30daysofbiking.com\" target=\"_blank\">30 Days of Bikin<\/a>g &#8212; and Thursday, <a title=\"On May 1 Toast National Bike Month with Beer, Art, and Bike Travel!\" href=\"http:\/\/wabikes.org\/2014\/04\/24\/may-1-toast-national-bike-month-beer-art-bike-travel\/\">our kickoff of National Bike Month with a big party<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>I can hear the Beatles now: &#8220;<a title=\"The Beatles, Here Comes the Sun, on YouTube\" href=\"http:\/\/youtu.be\/Y6GNEEi7x4c\" target=\"_blank\">Here comes the sun<\/a> (doot-n-doo-doo), here comes the sun, &amp; I say, She has served on a variety of boards and committees in transportation, public policy, and health, and directed external relations at WSU Spokane for 14-1\/2 years before coming to WA Bikes. She served 4 years in the Idaho state legislature, the youngest woman ever elected to the House and then the Senate.
