The video includes\u00a0practicing bike handling skills, learning about navigating intersections, and going on a road ride.<\/p>\n<p>South Whidbey School District joined the Bike and Pedestrian Safety Education program in 2011. Washington Bikes and <a href=\"http:\/\/feetfirst.org\">Feet First<\/a> trained their teachers in the 8-lesson curriculum, and the program has been rolling ever since. Each year they teach their middle school students how to ride a bike and important pedestrian safety skills. The teachers here have also added elements to the curriculum to cover group riding skills and a road ride to a neighborhood park.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"embed-youtube\" style=\"text-align:center; display: block;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"youtube-player\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/fmIr1HiNHDo?version=3&#038;rel=1&#038;showsearch=0&#038;showinfo=1&#038;iv_load_policy=1&#038;fs=1&#038;hl=en-US&#038;autohide=2&#038;wmode=transparent\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" style=\"border:0;\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts allow-same-origin allow-popups allow-presentation\"><\/iframe><\/span><br \/>\nYour school district could have the <a title=\"Safety Education\" href=\"http:\/\/wabikes.org\/growing-bicycling\/srts\/safety-education\/\">Bike and Pedestrian Safety Education Program<\/a> too, thanks to funding from the Washington State Department of Transportation. School districts can apply through the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.k12.wa.us\/HealthFitness\/SafeRoutes.aspx\">Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction&#8217;s call for applications<\/a> that is due next\u00a0Monday, December 9th.
