{"id":5450,"date":"2013-11-01T18:07:03","date_gmt":"2013-11-02T01:07:03","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/wabikes.org\/?p=5450"},"modified":"2013-11-01T18:07:03","modified_gmt":"2013-11-02T01:07:03","slug":"all-kinds-of-riders-for-all-kinds-of-reasons","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wabikes.org\/index.php\/2013\/11\/01\/all-kinds-of-riders-for-all-kinds-of-reasons\/","title":{"rendered":"All Kinds of Riders for All Kinds of Reasons"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>From the beginning we have focused on one mission: <strong>To grow bicycling statewide.<\/strong> Our programs have changed over the years\u2014our name has changed\u2014but our work has always had one singular, inspiring vision: <strong>A future in which Washington bikes.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>For all these years we have represented <strong>all kinds of riders for all kinds of reasons.<\/strong> You ride for competition or recreation, transportation or travel. You ride for lower blood pressure or cleaner air or to save money on gas or because it makes you feel like a kid.<\/p>\n<p>We are <strong>the #1 Bicycle-Friendly State in the Nation for so many reasons<\/strong> and we want to celebrate that!<\/p>\n<p>Volunteer and film director James Grindle of EyeConscious Films sat down with several of our members to hear them share their reasons for riding, some of the things they&#8217;ve done as advocates, and why they think it&#8217;s important to have an organization that works to make sure that all over the state, for all kinds of reasons,\u00a0<strong>Washington bikes.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Many thanks to\u00a0<strong>Adonia Lugo, Jeff and Jack Moran, Kristi Knodell and Kristin Kinnamon, and Rose Ann and Charles Finkel<\/strong>\u00a0for sharing their love of bicycling. She has served on a variety of boards and committees in transportation, public policy, and health, and directed external relations at WSU Spokane for 14-1\/2 years before coming to WA Bikes. She served 4 years in the Idaho state legislature, the youngest woman ever elected to the House and then the Senate.
