{"id":2103,"date":"2013-01-24T08:00:39","date_gmt":"2013-01-24T16:00:39","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/wabikes.org\/?p=2103"},"modified":"2013-01-22T17:26:36","modified_gmt":"2013-01-23T01:26:36","slug":"board-news-new-faces-and-new-leadership","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wabikes.org\/index.php\/2013\/01\/24\/board-news-new-faces-and-new-leadership\/","title":{"rendered":"Board News:  New Faces and New Leadership"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Washington Bikes board of directors seated two new members and elected a new slate of officers at its January meeting. \u00a0Joining the board for the first time are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Angela Jones of Spokane. Angela is the Director of Employment &amp; Conciliation Services for Spokane Public Schools.\u00a0 She also serves on the the Washington State University Alumni Association executive board and is the president of the African American Alumni Chapter. Angela is an avid recreational cyclist who embraced biking after a chronic knee injury sidelined her from other sports.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Tim Hennings of Seattle. Tim is the founder and president of the software company Catalog-on-Demand.\u00a0 A lifelong cyclist, he previously served on boards for Cascade Bicycle Club and Laurelhurst Beach Club.\u00a0 Tim would like to see the cycling movement grow in rural communities and see bicycle tourism as a potential tool for making this happen.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Board members returning for a new term are Sarah Gelineau of Tonasket, Jeff Petersen of Richland, and Andy Pryor of Dixie.\u00a0 You can read bios on all board members on the <a href=\"http:\/\/wabikes.org\/about-us\/board\/\">Board page<\/a> of our website.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_228\" style=\"width: 130px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"http:\/\/wabikes.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/David-McLean_board_picCrop120.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-228\" class=\"size-thumbnail wp-image-228\" title=\"David McLean_board_picCrop120\" src=\"http:\/\/wabikes.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/David-McLean_board_picCrop120-120x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"120\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-228\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">David McLean<\/p><\/div>\n<p>The board also appointed new officers for the year and named David McLean of Seattle as the president.\u00a0 David has been a member and volunteer for the Bicycle Alliance since 1991.\u00a0 His prior service to the organization includes volunteering for the auction, providing IT support, helping out as webmaster, being a Bike Buddy mentor, as well as being a community bike advocate.<\/p>\n<p>David takes great pride in helping the Bicycle Alliance grow into the great statewide organization it is today.\u00a0\u00a0 He was drawn to its mission of getting more people on bikes and growing bicycling statewide.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI would like to see bicycling become even more accepted as a valid means of transportation and recreation&#8211;where everyone who rides has access to safe, convenient and accessible places to ride.
