{"id":15783,"date":"2016-10-31T17:04:00","date_gmt":"2016-11-01T00:04:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/wabikes.org\/?p=15783"},"modified":"2016-11-08T09:03:56","modified_gmt":"2016-11-08T17:03:56","slug":"looking-ahead-five-year-strategic-plan","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wabikes.org\/index.php\/2016\/10\/31\/looking-ahead-five-year-strategic-plan\/","title":{"rendered":"Looking Ahead: Our Five-Year Strategic Plan"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-15017\" src=\"http:\/\/wabikes.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/WA-Kids-Say-We-Need-More-Safe-Routes-to-School-400x300.png\" alt=\"WA-Kids-Say-We-Need-More-Safe-Routes-to-School\" width=\"400\" height=\"300\" \/>As the leadership of the &#8220;old&#8221; Washington \u00a0Bikes and Cascade Bicycle Club embarked on a <a href=\"http:\/\/wabikes.org\/2015\/12\/08\/%e2%80%8bcascade-bicycle-club-and-washington-bikes-merge-to-form-nations-largest-statewide-bicycle-nonprofit\/\">merger<\/a>, we engaged people from across the state in our planning process for the new Washington Bikes and the new Cascade. Our strategic planning consultants interviewed stakeholders statewide, led focus groups, and held a two-day retreat with members of both boards and staff.<\/p>\n<p>In that process we realigned which organization does what now that Washington Bikes functions\u00a0as a 501(c)(4) and Cascade operates as a 501(c)(3). To help clarify the new responsibilities we&#8217;re highlighting our strategic plan priorities with a series of posts over the next few days. You&#8217;re also invited to review the <a href=\"https:\/\/issuu.com\/cascadebicycleclub\/docs\/courier10_16_web\/1\">Cascade strategic plan<\/a>, distributed in October.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-12596\" src=\"http:\/\/wabikes.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/SSB_5438_Bill_Signing-400x266.jpg\" alt=\"SSB_5438_Bill_Signing\" width=\"400\" height=\"266\" srcset=\"https:\/\/wabikes.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/SSB_5438_Bill_Signing-400x266.jpg 400w, https:\/\/wabikes.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/SSB_5438_Bill_Signing-700x466.jpg 700w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/>Briefly, our strategic priorities are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/wabikes.org\/2016\/11\/01\/five-year-strategic-plan-priority-support-election-bicycle-friendly-candidates\/\">Support the election of bicycle-friendly candidates<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/wabikes.org\/2016\/11\/02\/five-year-strategic-plan-priority-promote-bicycle-friendly-policies-investments\/\">Promote bicycle-friendly policies and investments<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/wabikes.org\/2016\/11\/03\/five-year-strategic-plan-priority-increase-ridership-statewide\/\">Increase ridership statewide<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/wabikes.org\/2016\/11\/04\/five-year-strategic-plan-priority-communicate-purpose\/\">Communicate our purpose<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This isn&#8217;t a plan that&#8217;s simply executed by staff. This is a plan that relies on the engagement of individuals and partner organizations across the state. All our work relies on the belief that\u00a0<strong>people who bike make a difference.<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>You<\/strong> make a difference when you take action to <strong>elect<\/strong> bike-friendly candidates.<\/li>\n<li><strong>You<\/strong> make a difference when you <strong>advocate\u00a0<\/strong>for better bicycling at the local, state, and federal levels.<\/li>\n<li><strong>You<\/strong> make a difference when you simply get out and <strong>ride\u00a0<\/strong>&#8212; more people on the streets creates more safety for everyone who rides.<\/li>\n<li><strong>You<\/strong> make a difference when you <strong>communicate<\/strong>\u00a0with your bicycling friends and enlist them to join you in standing up, speaking out, and <a href=\"http:\/\/wabikes.org\/donate-2\/\">supporting our work<\/a> on behalf of better bicycling.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Join us on our journey guided by the vision of\u00a0<strong>Bicycling for All,<\/strong>\u00a0because\u00a0<em><strong>people who bike make a difference.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>As the leadership of the &#8220;old&#8221;
