You\u2019re biking down a newly installed protected bike lane that connects two sections of town. Your town is named a <a href=\"http:\/\/wabikes.org\/growing-bicycling\/resources\/bike-friendly-washington\/\">Bicycle Friendly Community<\/a> and you can actually see why.<\/p>\n<p>This happens because local bike leaders and Washington Bikes collaborate in identifying and promoting bicycle-friendly policies and investments that make bicycling safer and more accessible. You\u2019re part of a community where your voice is not only heard, but acted upon.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What we will do:<\/strong> We will <strong>double<\/strong> the actions taken by you to contact elected officials to promote policies and increase investments for better bicycling. All of this will provide support for you to apply for, receive, and then improve your town\u2019s bicycle-friendly designation by the League of American Bicyclists.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Our current level of success:<\/strong> By the end of 2016, we\u2019ll record an initial baseline based on the number of 2015 and 2016 individual actions taken on our advocacy software platform. Additionally, we\u2019ll measure the number of bicycle-friendly communities across the state, which currently stands at 16.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Our strategic priorities<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/wabikes.org\/2016\/11\/01\/five-year-strategic-plan-priority-support-election-bicycle-friendly-candidates\/\">Support the election of bicycle-friendly candidates<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/wabikes.org\/2016\/11\/02\/five-year-strategic-plan-priority-promote-bicycle-friendly-policies-investments\/\">Promote bicycle-friendly policies and investments<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/wabikes.org\/2016\/11\/03\/five-year-strategic-plan-priority-increase-ridership-statewide\/\">Increase ridership statewide<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/wabikes.org\/2016\/11\/04\/five-year-strategic-plan-priority-communicate-purpose\/\">Communicate our purpose<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Read our posts highlighting priorities in our\u00a0strategic plan\u00a0adopted in 2016.
