An Everyday Superhero of Bicycling who works to make the world a better place for bicycling, that is.<\/p>\n<p>Some of the things an Everyday Superhero might do:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Teach someone to ride a bike<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"line-height: 1.5em;\">Help someone find the best route from Point A to Point B<\/span><\/li>\n<li>Start a local group that does something to promote and improve bicycling<\/li>\n<li>Help develop a bike master plan and get it adopted<\/li>\n<li>Get a Complete Streets ordinance in your hometown<\/li>\n<li>Teach someone to fix a flat<\/li>\n<li>Get 20mph (the Neighborhood Safe Streets Law) adopted in your town<\/li>\n<li>Serve on a Bicycle Advisory Board<\/li>\n<li>Run for office as a bike-friendly candidate<\/li>\n<li>Organize or volunteer at a Kidical Mass ride or Open Streets event<\/li>\n<li>Nominate your town for <a title=\"What makes a Bicycle Friendly Community in Washington state?\" href=\"http:\/\/wabikes.org\/2015\/06\/18\/makes-bicycle-friendly-community-washington-state\/\">Bicycle Friendly Community<\/a> recognition<\/li>\n<li>Make your business a Bicycle Friendly Business<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"line-height: 1.5em;\">Contact a legislator in support of more funding and better laws<\/span><\/li>\n<li>Take local leaders and traffic engineers on a bike ride to highlight areas that need improvement<\/li>\n<li>Run a community bike shop<\/li>\n<li>Volunteer for a kids&#8217; bike program at a school, community center, or youth program<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/gis2-N6HZgc\" height=\"315\" width=\"420\" allowfullscreen=\"\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><strong>Everyday Superheroes<\/strong>\u00a0also serves as the theme of this year&#8217;s <a title=\"Auction\" href=\"http:\/\/wabikes.org\/events-rides\/auction\/\">Washington Bikes Auction and Gala<\/a>, coming up\u00a0<strong>October 17, 2015,\u00a0<\/strong>at the Seattle Marriott Waterfront. We like to call it the biggest bike party of the year. It also serves to bring in revenues essential for our bike advocacy work.<\/p>\n<p>We want to highlight and thank\u00a0<em>your<\/em> Everyday Superheroes before, during, and after the event.
