Expect traffic changes along Alaskan Way near the Colman Dock ferry terminal beginning <strong>Monday, January 12<\/strong>. Work zone modifications for the SR 99 Tunnel Project and the Elliott Bay Seawall Project will alter ferry access and traffic patterns, which are expected to remain in place through May 2015.<\/p>\n<p>Washington State DOT has a <a title=\"Viaduct\/Traffic\/Ferry\" href=\"http:\/\/www.wsdot.wa.gov\/Projects\/Viaduct\/Traffic\/Ferry\" target=\"_blank\"><b>map<\/b><\/a> of the upcoming changes and they outlined them in an announcement:<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_11357\" style=\"width: 408px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"http:\/\/wabikes.org\/2015\/01\/08\/alaskan-way-traffic-changes-near-ferry-terminal\/cyclists-colman-dock-ferry-terminal\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-11357\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-11357\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-11357\" alt=\"Cyclists offload at Colman Dock Ferry Terminal.\" src=\"http:\/\/wabikes.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/Cyclists-Colman-Dock-Ferry-Terminal-398x400.png\" width=\"398\" height=\"400\" srcset=\"https:\/\/wabikes.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/Cyclists-Colman-Dock-Ferry-Terminal-398x400.png 398w, https:\/\/wabikes.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/Cyclists-Colman-Dock-Ferry-Terminal-150x150.png 150w, https:\/\/wabikes.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/Cyclists-Colman-Dock-Ferry-Terminal.png 426w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 398px) 100vw, 398px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-11357\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Cyclists offload at Colman Dock Ferry Terminal.<\/p><\/div>\n<p><em>Bicyclists and pedestrians:<\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Existing pedestrian access to the ferry terminal via the\u00a0<b>Marion Street pedestrian bridge<\/b>\u00a0will remain in place throughout construction, though the configuration may periodically shift.<\/li>\n<li>A\u00a0<b>temporary walkway<\/b>\u00a0between Columbia and Marion streets will provide pedestrian access to the ferry terminal from Alaskan Way.<\/li>\n<li><b>Bicyclists<\/b>\u00a0will access the ferry terminal at Yesler Way.<\/li>\n<li>Pedestrians and bicyclists will access the\u00a0<b>water taxi<\/b>\u00a0at Yesler Way.<\/li>\n<li>The\u00a0<b>shared-use path<\/b>\u00a0<b>along Alaskan Way<\/b>\u00a0will remain open throughout much of construction. Temporary shifts and intermittent closures may be necessary to accommodate work activities.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><em>\u00a0Drivers:<\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Drivers will\u00a0<b>enter the<\/b>\u00a0<b>ferry terminal<\/b>\u00a0from northbound or southbound Alaskan Way at Yesler Way.<\/li>\n<li><b>Passenger pickup and drop-off<\/b>\u00a0(including access for people with disabilities) will be located on the west side of Alaskan Way between Columbia and Marion streets.<\/li>\n<li>Drivers should prepare for\u00a0<b>additional congestion along Alaskan Way<\/b>\u00a0and nearby streets, especially during busy morning and afternoon commute times as travelers adjust to the new configuration. WSDOT and SDOT will monitor traffic patterns and make adjustments as needed in the weeks following these changes.<\/li>\n<li>Trucks that are more than 40 feet long will only be permitted access to the terminal from northbound Alaskan Way.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Contact WSDOT via email at\u00a0<a href=\"mailto:viaduct@wsdot.wa.gov \">viaduct@wsdot.wa.gov\u00a0<\/a>or call their hotline (1-888-AWV-LINE) if you have questions or concerns.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Heads up!
