There are many reasons, but a big one is you could <strong>win a bike!<\/strong> <a href=\"http:\/\/bit.ly\/BBSWjoinnow2012\">Click here to enter contest and join<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Here\u2019s another reason to jump on the bandwagon: \u00a0our statewide efforts over the past 25 years have yielded real results enhancing the safety and quality of life for people who ride bicycles throughout the state of Washington.<\/p>\n<p>Our advocacy continues to grow with our successes including:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/wabikes.org\/index.php\/about-us\/accomplishments\/\">Passage of significant legislation<\/a> that protect bicyclists and pedestrians.<\/li>\n<li>Safety improvements for bikes on the <a href=\"http:\/\/wabikes.org\/index.php\/2012\/07\/bicycle-alliance-of-washington-and-local-stakeholders-reach-agreement-with-wsdot-on-hood-canal-bridge-safety-fixes-for-bicycles\/\">Hood Canal Bridge<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Scaling back of rumble strips on Vashon.<\/li>\n<li>The <a href=\"http:\/\/wabikes.org\/index.php\/2012\/03\/time-runs-out-for-neighborhood-safe-speeds-bill-in-washington-state-senate\/\">Neighborhood Safe Speeds Bill<\/a>, one of our major legislative priorities this upcoming session<strong>.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>On the education front two beloved programs have met with great success:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/wabikes.org\/index.php\/growing-bicycling\/safe-routes-to-schools\/\">Safe Routes to School<\/a>, a comprehensive bicycling and safety education program in South King County, and a model for the state, reaches 31 school districts and over 20,000 school children.<a href=\"http:\/\/wabikes.org\/index.php\/growing-bicycling\/go-by-bike\/\"><br \/>\n<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/wabikes.org\/index.php\/growing-bicycling\/go-by-bike\/\">Go by Bike<\/a>, a pilot program begun in 2011, brings bicycle safety education to college students and outreach to partnering schools in the Puget Sound region.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Our grassroots efforts offer further proof of our reach into all parts of the state:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Support for bike advocates in local communities, including but not limited to,\u00a0 Spokane, Vancouver, Wenatchee, Seattle, Spokane Valley, Tri-Cities, Olympic Peninsula, Tacoma and Whatcom County.<strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Statewide outreach that provides inspiration, technical assistance, and fiscal administration to local advocacy groups and trail organizations.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Washington Bikes is committed to keeping Washington State the most bike friendly state in the nation.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Please join us today by supporting our mission to make bicycling more inclusive and accessible to everyone!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><a href=\"http:\/\/wabikes.org\/index.php\/support-us\/become-a-member\/\"><strong>BECOME A MEMBER<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Why join Washington Bikes?
